The only real reason I mentioned the postage due on the package at the P.O. is that in the Infocom Bureaucracy game, several of the 21 total points you can acquire are obtained by looking at the stamp...

For the cube. I agree and think the "nines" simply mean panels of 9 characters that form a facet of a cube.
